Good evening and thank you for joining us, i'm cash matlock.

One person is dead after a shooting in choctaw county friday night.

Choctaw county sheriff's deputies say they responded to a missing person's call around 9 o'clock.

When they arrived at a residence on seward road, they discovered the body of a thirty-eight year old african- american male.

Coroner keith coleman said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim's body was transported to pearl for an autopsy.

Mbi, the choctaw county sheriff's department, and the choctaw county coroner are investigating the incident.

As of right now, there is no suspect in custody.

We'll have more information on this as it becomes available.

The search for a missing man in the golden triangle continues.

31-year-old cory baughn was last seen leaving an apartment on stark road on november 12th.

Starkville police say baughn's last known location was on highway 82 east, heading towards columbus or west alabama.

He's believed to be traveling in this nissan car.

Spd tells wcbi it is still actively investigating this missing persons case and receiving support from other agencies.

If you know where baughn is, call starkville police.

Thanksgiving means travelers will be piling into the car and taking a trip to be with friends and family.

Gas prices this thanksgiving is projected to be pricier at the pumps than it has been in the last five years according to a new report.

Our deandria turner has more on the story.

Nat sound one of the busiest times on the road all year... thanksgiving.

And drivers should not expect a dip in prices at the pump.

Gasbuddy tracks fuel prices around the country and projects the national average to be its highest since 2014 which was $2.79 .

Stand up: the average gas prices around thanksgiving in 2015 was $2.06 in 2016 $2.13 in7 a whopping $2.53 and in 2018 $2.55.

This years gas prices only went up by a penny but the average price in mississippi, 2.10, is below the national average.

In columbus the highest price is $2.35 yolanda nelson is a michigan native, but is driving to the gulf coast for thanksgiving.

She says she's not too concerned about gas prices.

"'not really because if i was going home it'll be a lot different price."

James davidson will be traveling between birmingham and mississippi for thanksgiving and gas prices isn't slowing him down either.

"it's a short drive.

I think thi was going to spend the gas money one way or the other.

"it's all within a few cents so it's not a huge difference" one way to save on gas this thanksgiving is to fill up your tank on monday.

The most expensive day to fill up is friday.

First look we'll have another great day on monday before a more unsettled weather pattern begins to set in.

Rain chances will increase as we get into tuesday, and storms are possible tuesday night.

Thanksgiving and black friday look to be mostly dry, but more storms are likely on saturday.

Sunday night: another chilly night is in store with lows in the mid 30s under a partly cloudy sky.

Monday: we'll stay mostly sunny through the day with highs in the mid 60s.

Winds will be out of the south at 5 to 10 mph.

If you've heard about a national christmas tree shortage---don't let it dampen your holiday cheer.

The impact around here will be minimal and could mean even more mississippi- grown trees will be in demand this year.

Courtney ann jackson explains.

Don kazery, jr. has been growing christmas trees in hinds county for nearly 20 years.

Nats there are a lot of variables that go into keeping up the supply.

And it takes time to get them ready to sell.

"this tree right here might be six years old.

A tree right next to it..here is probably two years older."

Weather-wise--this year's periods of drought after good rainfall won't impact the kazery supply for several years.

But it was enough for them to lose some of the younger trees that didn't have established roots yet.

"there's one right down there.

It's probably at least three years old."

The nationwide shortage of frazier firs isn't making an impact here.

But some other southern growers typically supplement their crop with those frazier firs.

And kazery remembers a different previous shortage that is just now effecting what he has available.

"looking at our trees right now, i realize that part of the reason we have a lot of the blue ice is because one year we could not get a lot of the leyland.

So, we ended up having to pay a lot more for the blue ice.

And that's why we have right now a lot of blue ice....and they have a citrus fragrance."

Some advantages to getting a homegrown tree?

Turns out---the trees most commonly grown in our state have less chance of what some say is the most annoying part of the real deal.

"these are like no drop needle trees.

They will drop but it'll be after christmas."

Above all else, he says it's the experience that can't be replaced.

"it's a lot of tradition, a process and you cannot buy this if you go and have a fake tree or if you go to a tree that's precut."

It was an opportunity for people to get some christmas shopping done and enjoy family friendly activities downtown tupelo main street association held the annual christmas open house merchants were opened this afternoon and offered specials for shoppers kids were able to get their photos made with the grinch at gumtree museum santa and mrs claus were at tupelo hardware today in columbus at three sisters pie company members of the community learned about the tennessee tombigbee waterway and what it has to offer... wcbi's tyler hull was there and has more on the story... sunday was the seventh installation of dr. d's brain jam... they have discussed several topics over the past seven months..

However, things were different this time.

"i am always excited about brain jam, but the thing that im most excited about today is that it's our first brain jam that is focusing on local information and the columbus area in particular" the tennessee-tombigbee waterway is a 234 mile man- made waterway... it runs through the heart of columbus... ranger randi says that the waterway is full of opportunities... "it's full of recreational opportunities, it's has awesome wildlife mitigation projects from when it was created to today to try and help endangered species help get rid of invasive species and then the navigation section at our office works really hard to keep the water way open" tyler hull wcbi news the waterway was built in 1984 and cost nearly 2 billion dollars.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and that means a lot of people will be in the kitchen.

Coming up on mom to mom... some tips on how to keep the ?smaller?

People ?out?

Of the kitchen.

Stay with us.

Thanksgiving is coming up and that means lots of cooking!

But if you have little ones running around the house, it can be hard to keep them out of the kitchen.

Here's this week's mom to mom with some helpful tips.

Speaker 1: today on mom to mom, we're going to teach you a fun thanksgiving game to keep your kids out of the kitchen.

We're going to play stuff the turkey.

Now, i found this really cool game on a kid- friendly things to do blog, and it's really a lot of fun and your kids will play it for days and days and days.

So, it's simple.

All you need is a large brown paper bag, some tissue paper, and a small brown paper bag, stapler, and of course, your glue gun.

Let's get started.

Speaker 1: first, we're going to start with a large paper bag.

You're going to want to take the top edge and fold it down about four inches.

We're going to pinch the bag, then fold it over, kind of like a present, and then staple it.

Then you're going to do the exact same thing on the other side.

Speaker 1: next comes the turkey legs.

Now we get a small paper bag, wad up any kind of paper that you have lying around the house, and stuff it in there.

Then you grab your white tissue paper for the booties.

We're going to twist it up and the shape of a turkey leg, kind of like you see at the fair.

Get out the glue gun, put a little spot on the bag and on the turkey leg, and then you push the two together and hold it for a few seconds.

Repeat all that for the second side, and then you're done.

Speaker 1: this is a fun thing o do with your kids or for your sanity.

The game is pretty simple.

There are no rules.

You're just stuffing the turkey so you can take any kind of paper that you have, and you just wad up the balls, and you make it into the turkey.

As always, moms, we'd love to hear your wonderful tips.

You can hit us up on our facebook and we'll see again on mom to mom.

The slumping box office needed a breath of fresh air -- how about "cold" air?

A disney sequel and two other new movies gave ticket sales a jump-start this weekend.

David daniel has estimates for the top five films at theaters.

"midway" fell from second to fifth, earning four-point- seven million dollars.

"there are 21 bridges in and out of manhattan.

Shut 'em down."

The thriller "21 bridges" opened in fourth place, on ticket sales of nine-point-two million.

"do you consider yourself a hero?"

"i don't think of myself as a hero, no, not at all."

"a beautiful day in the neighborhood" debuted third, making 13-and-a-half million dollars.

"it's because of what his cars mean: victory."

"ford vee ferrari" downshifted to second place: 16-million dollars gave the drama 58-million in 10 days.

"excuse me: i climbed the north mountain, survived a frozen heart, and saved you from my ex-boyfriend, and i did it all without powers.

So, you know, i'm coming."

"frozen two" came out smoking with 127-million dollars, the best november animated movie debut ever, and one of best openings ever for an animated film.
