Court rejects Bill Cosby's sexual assault appeal

Bill Cosby lost his appeal on Tuesday to overturn his 2018 sexual assault conviction.

A Pennsylvania appeals court rejected the argument Cosby’s lawyer laid out that the trial judge had deprived the former star of a fair trial.

A jury found the 82 year-old guilty in April 2018 of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home in 2004, and was sentenced to serve three to 10 years in prison.

His lawyers appealed the lower court’s conviction, arguing that the judge allowed both testimony and evidence already used in a previous case against Cosby 15 years prior, and should have been excluded in the 2018 trial.

Dozens of women have accused Cosby of sexual assault over several decades.

Cosby has insisted that any sexual encounters he had were consensual.
