Killing of BJP leader by terrorists seems like pre-planned attack: Kashmir IGP

Inspector General of Police for Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, on July 09 said the killing of BJP leader Wasim Bari by terrorists a day earlier seems like a pre-planned attack since he had adequate security.

"He had adequate security, but there was negligence on part of on-duty personnel.

All 10 personnel on duty suspended.

Probe is on.

After analysis of CCTV footage, it seems like a pre-planned attack," said Kumar.

Along with Wasim, who was the former district president of BJP, his father and brother were also killed by terrorists in Bandipora on July 08.

A BJP leader was shot at by terrorists in of Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam, said the police on Sunday. BJP leader Abdul Hamid Najar was immediately shifted to a hospital. Najar is the district president of Budgam BJP Other Backward Class (OBC) Morcha and is a resident of Mohiendpora area of Budgam in Central Kashmir. "Abdul Hamid Najar was fired upon by terrorists. He has been shifted to a hospital. He is a resident of Mohiendpora area of Budgam," said Amod Nagpure, Budgam SSP, Jammu and Kashmir Police. Attacks on BJP leaders have increased recently in the valley. On August 6, a BJP Sarpanch succumbed to injuries after he was shot by terrorists. Sajad Ahmad Khanday was shot near his home in south Kashmir's Kulgam. Recently, BJP-affiliated panchayat member Arif Ahmad Khan was shot at in Kulgam. In July, former Bandipora BJP chief Wasim Bari, his father and brother succumbed to their injuries after terrorists fired upon them.

Terrorists attack police party in J&K's Nowgam, 2 cops killed

At least two police personnel were killed in a terrorist attack on police party in Jammu and Kashmir's Nowgam. Police said that terrorists belong to Jaish-e-Mohammed terror outfit. The incident also left a police personnel injured. The policemen belonged to the 20th battalion of IRP. The police personnel were rushed to a hospital for treatment. On reaching the hospital, two of them were declared dead. The area where the attack took place has been cordoned off. IG Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, said, "Two terrorists fired indiscriminately on our police party. Two of our jawans were martyred, one injured. We have identified them, they belong to JeM group. We will neutralise the terrorists soon. We get such inputs every year before August 15 and January 26. We had inputs that they will try (an attack) in some area. Our men were alert and prepared but terrorists came from the rear side and fired on them. In a tweet, Jammu and Kashmir Police said that the attack took place near Nowgam Bypass.
