Captain Sir Tom 'delighted' by Army training college honour
Captain Sir Tom Moore said it is "truly a great honour" to be made honorarycolonel of an Army training college as he visited the military establishmentas part of his new role.
The 100-year-old Second World War veteran told juniorsoldiers to take full advantage of the "outstanding" Army Foundation Collegein Harrogate, North Yorkshire, as he was shown around the facility on Monday.
A nine-year-old boy from Sheffield has raised more than £150,000 for local charities since lockdown began, 300 times more than his initial goal. Tobias Weller, who has cerebral palsy, was only walking a few metres at the beginning of lockdown but was inspired by the efforts of Captain Tom Moore. Report by Blairm. An 80-year-old retired Army major has embarked on a 100-mile charitychallenge, travelling at 2mph in his home-made boat. Michael Stanley, whoserved in The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards for 35 years, created the boat, namedthe Tintanic, out of two sheets of corrugated iron, curtain hooks andhosepipe. He has set himself the target of rowing it 100 miles along theChichester canal in West Sussex. The veteran, known as Major Mick, had aimedto raise £1,000 for St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Bosham but has already surpassed£8,000.

Indian Army revealed Pakistan's plan to push terrorists across LoC days after the govt's China-Pakistan joint 'mission' revelation. Army said Intel suggests around 250 terrorists are waiting to infiltrate. “As far as winter time is concerned - like infiltration attempts are made during summer, only slightly lower levels of attempts are seen in winter. There is always an attempt to push terrorists across. If terrorists have been given equipment to hide and brave out the cold, we have much better equipment. Our capability to detect infiltrators is much better. We are stationed at positions on the ground which can prevent infiltration,” said Maj Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla. Pak's latest terror push comes amid tension between India, China at LAC. Days earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had spoken on border tension. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on October 12 inaugurated 8 bridges in Leh. Border Road Organization Chief Engineer, Vijayak said that the newly inaugurated Nimmu Bridge will improve Army's strategic movement and will make economic benefits for locals. BRO Chief Engineer said, "Earlier Bridge could bear 24 tonnes weight. Nimmu Bridge can bear 70 tonnes. It's one of three new bridges which made all bridges on NH-I, 70-tonne load-bearing bridges. It improves Army's strategic movements and makes potential economic benefits for locals." Vijayak further informed that 7 other bridges have also been inaugurated. "7 other bridges have also been inaugurated today. Of these, 1 is on the road which connects Leh to Manali, 2 bridges are on the road to the Siachen base camp while 1 in the Kargil district and 1 on the Daulat Beg Oldie road," he added.

A British Second World War bomb exploded while being made safe underwater bynavy demolition specialists in northwestern Poland on Tuesday. The 5.4-tonTallboy bomb was found in September 2019 beneath a waterway leading to theport of Szczecin during work to deepen the passage. More than 750 people wereevacuated for the sappers' operation since it was located on the southern edgeof the popular Baltic Sea resort of Swinoujscie, which like Szczecin was abusy Nazi Germany military port during the war.
