The Prince of Wales has visited the scene of the train crash in Aberdeenshire that killed three people on Wednesday morning.

Charles, who is known as the Duke of Rothesay when in Scotland, thanked emergency responders who were among the first on the scene of the derailment near Stonehaven.

Train driver BrettMcCullough, 45, conductor Donald Dinnie, 58, and passenger ChristopherStuchbury, 62, died when the 6.38am Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen Street ScotRailservice derailed in Aberdeenshire after hitting a landslip on August 12following heavy rain. Workers at the site and members of the emergencyservices took part in the minute’s silence on Thursday morning. A 600-tonnecrawler crane is being used to lift the derailed carriages from the railwayline.
