Vice Admiral AK Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-in- Chief, Southern Naval Command said that Indian Navy played a crucial role in preventing any misadventure by the Chinese Navy in the Indian Ocean Region during the peak of the border standoff between the two countries. "I think the message has gone across to them very unambiguously that do not mess with us at sea and also at land for that matter," he said. The vice admiral was responding to a query on whether there was a clamour for India to assert itself in seas during the tense border standoff in eastern Ladakh involving the troops of the two countries. India successfully test fired a land attack version of BrahMos supersonic missile. The supersonic cruise missile was test-fired on November 24 at Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It hit its target, which was on a different island with ‘pinpoint accuracy’. The strike range of BrahMos missile has now been enhanced to over 400 km. BrahMos Aerospace, an India-Russian joint venture, produces the lethal weapon that can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or from land platforms. According to official sources, in the next few days, the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy are scheduled to carry out separate test-firing of the new version of the air-launched and naval versions of the supersonic cruise missile respectively. A trilateral naval exercise involving India, Singapore, Thailand commenced in Andaman Sea. This is the second edition of the two-day long naval exercise, SITMEX 2020. The exercise is scheduled in a 'non-contact, at sea only format' in view of Covid-19. SITMEX-2020 aims to further consolidate interoperability between the three navies. The exercise also aims to enhance understanding best practices for multi-faceted maritime operations. This edition would involve a war-at-sea exercise, naval manoeuvres, weapon firing, etc. Indian Navy is represented by two indigenous warships - INS Kamorta and INS Karmuk. Singapore is represented by RSS Intrepid and RSS Endeavour while Thailand is by HTMS Kraburi. The five-day maiden edition of the exercise was conducted in September 2019. Exercise was held off Andaman and Nicobar Islands with the harbour phase at Port Blair.

We were welcomed open-heartedly by Bollywood people," Nath told ANI.

Sapan Machi, who runs his tea stall named 'Shree Sainath Tea Center' in Bajwada area, is doing his part to ensure Gujarat gets past what can be called a second wave of coronavirus in the western state. Sapan has so far distributed around 650 masks to his customers, and has pledged to continue this good deed till the virus is eliminated.
