Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa participated in inauguration ceremony of Dasara in Mysore. Celebrations of Sharad (autumn) Navratri involve worshipping Goddess Durga and her nine forms. The festival is celebrated in different ways across the country. Over the next nine days, devotees offer their prayers to Goddess Durga and observe fasts. Also known as Sharad Navratri, the festival marks Durga's victory over demon Mahishasura.

Indian Coast Guard warns fishermen and merchant vessels in West Central Bay of Bengal on Thursday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued orange alert in Hyderabad, as the city continue to witness heavy rainfall. "Yesterday night, Hyderabad city had received heavy rainfall from thunderstorm, we are monitoring Hyderabad in high priority. Monsoon is very active here, we have new system forming over east central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours, it will move west or north-west. Costal Andhra Pradesh, South Odisha and Telangana are under over monitoring 24*7, we have given orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall," said Senior Scientist, Rajendra Kumar Jenamani. Several people have lost lives in Hyderabad as heavy downpour triggered flood-like situation in Hyderabad.
Delhi's air quality to remain 'poor' for coming three days, said senior scientist of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Rajendra Kumar Jenamani."Air quality of Delhi today is better than Thursday. On October 15 pollution level had dipped to 'very poor'. Due to winds, it has been improved to 'poor' category," said IMD scientist.
