Senator Susan Collins Wins Reelection in Maine.
According to The Associated Press, Collins secured the win with 51 percent of the vote.
This was the most difficult race of her career, as she was a top target on the Democrat’s path to reclaiming majority in the Senate.
Her Democratic challenger, Sara Gideon, only trailed her by 69,280 votes.
Collins’ reelection will be her fifth term representing Maine in the Senate.
She initially assumed office in 1997.
Although she’s classified as a Republican, Collins has distanced herself from Trump and developed working relationships with Democrats.
She was one of only two senators in her party to vote against the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
Collins even declined to say whether or not she voted for Trump in the presidential election
