Mixed reaction to gambling bill's casino
It was approved in the senate earlier this week.
The bill could open the door for a casino in jackson or dekalb county.
Waay31s sierra phillips talked with voters from both counties... she learned what they think about the proposal.
Justice- "i would love to go to it" right now - opinions are mixed about a potential casino in jackson or dekalb county.
Patrick- "'i'm against a casino in my county or the surrounding counties."
The amendment would make way for casinos in counties across alabama.
And for a state lottery funding education.
Patrick- "i'm not 100 percent for a lottery but i'm not necessarily opposed to it.
But a casino is a whole different ball game."
Near jackson and dekalb county-- both tennessee and georgia have a state lottery.
Justice- "if it's here it'll help out alabama instead of georgia."
But- a lot of people i spoke with had some moral concerns about a casino nearby.
Patrick- "it dilutes the family environment of the community.
The spin-off businesses of it."
Ll- if the bill makes it through it would require a state-wide vote to become an official amendment.
