Alabama man will spend the next 20 years in prison for robbing a bank.
52 year old johnny cordell pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery at a hearing in lamar county circuit court wednesday.
He stole 4-thousand dollars from the sulligent first national bank in the summer of 20-19.
Cordell went to the bank on alabama highway 17 just before noon that day.
He handed the clerk a note that said "this is a robbery."
It also said that the clerk should not call police because two men were waiting outside.
Law enforcement received video surveillance footage of the robbery.
Police later identified cordell as the suspect.
The 24th judicial circuit district attorney andy hamlin said he was glad cordell decided to take responsibility for his actions.
