A dad created this impressive home Tiki bar in his garden for just £800 - using YouTube videos and stuff he salvaged for free.Tom Sherratt, 31, transformed his unused garden into an exotic holiday bar - complete with a palm thatched roof, all wooden décor and its own working bar taps. The thrifty dad-of-one decided to start the project after his summer holiday was cancelled due to lockdown and wanted to "bring fun in the sun to home". He began work last October and trawled through Facebook Marketplace for materials - sourcing half of them for free. Tom used wooden panels across the edge of the bar to give the illusion of bamboo panelling  and even created his 'Tiki Bar' wooden sign in tropical font. Savvy Tom also managed to nab beer coolers, pint glasses and tables from closed down pubs in the area and now stocks local lager at his bar.An electrician by trade, Tom taught himself the skills to build from YouTube and online forums and spent his evenings and weekends on the six month project. The bar also has four signs outside the entrance, listing other garden pubs from around the world with there distances beside, in a nod to other DIY lockdown enthusiasts. Tom says he is waiting for the good weather to return and for lockdown to end before inviting his friends over. Tom, from Stoke-on-Trent, said: "I'm really happy with it. "Like most people I needed to have a little project to keep myself going during lockdown."I got the idea last year when I kept seeing lots of traditional style garden pubs being made by bored at home blokes. "I wanted to do something a bit different and not like anywhere else."I was speaking it over with my partner at the time and we were talking about our holiday being cancelled."That's when I thought I'd bring the holiday closer to home and in time for this summer."I started off on marketplace and found lots of bits and bobs from people who decided to do up their homes and had materials left over. "A lot of the time they just wanted the stuff shifting and didn't want to take it to the tip. "The wooden pallets were free, it was just the cost of the petrol. "I've tried to do all I can to make it authentic. "I've even got telegram polls outside with a list of other pubs. "I put a post on Instagram asking if any home bars wanted to be mentioned and I had a lot of comments.

I initially was going to do just the three but now I have four polls."They're from up and down the country and I have ones on there from Denmark and Russia too. "It was quite fun working out which way I had to point them too.

It's just a nice touch. "I'm not a builder by trade. "I'd like to just give hope to people who are thinking about doing it but don't think they're equipped."I managed to pull it off!

It's doable. "And it didn't cost an arm and a leg either."I just can't wait to get my friends and family round and enjoy all the hard work I put in."Roll on summer I say!"To follow updates from The Tiki Bar JungleBar click; https://www.instagram.com/the_tiki_junglebar/FULL LIST OF ITEMS USED TO MAKE TIKI BAR Corrugated roof from farm - £30Wooden pallets x27 - FreeBar optics from bar closure - £90 Double fridge from restaurant closure - FreeCedar bar top offcuts les Oakes reclaimed - £10 Wood for roof structure - £68Wooden scaffold boards floor reclaimed - £230Wooden cladding on sides from Facebook Marketplace - £50Bricks for fire from Facebook Marketplace - FreeLog burner from Facebook Marketplace - FreeTable small x3 from Facebook Marketplace - £35Large table from pub closure - £60Stools from Facebook Marketplace -  £30Beer glasses from pub closure -  £20Beer cooler from bar closure - FreeWood for sign and shutter offcuts - FreeScrews from B&Q - £49Wood for floor structure old pallet wood - FreePlastic thatch roof from Amazon - £453x3 upright posts Facebook Marketplace - £40Hinges from Amazon - £9Signs from bar closure - £10Led lights - £26Fishing nets from Facebook Marketplace - FreeTiki masks from Facebook Marketplace - FreeLiving wall old pallets FreeTotal £802
