Seydel says that deep seabed mining — the process of scraping the seafloor at depths below 200 meters for mineral deposits — will have a detrimental effect on the Earth’s climate.
Seydel, who is also the granddaughter of media mogul Ted Turner and a director of the Turner Foundation, says there’s a lot of greenwashing going on by companies that have interests in mining the deep seabed.
